Julian Lion Boxenbaum – The Hyperloop, Inspiring Innovation & The Future of Transportation

Julian Lion Boxenbaum was the faculty advisor for the Carnegie Mellon Hyperloop team and an invited judge at the SpaceX sponsored Hyperloop competition in 2016.

He is an award winning, patent holding, designer and innovation strategist with a history of developing innovative products and services, system solutions, strategies, and user experiences. He has a particular interest in applying ‘design thinking’ processes to non-traditional applications and transforming new technologies into useful solutions that satisfy user needs and desires. He is the C0-founder of BUZstudios.

Julian is also the Co-Founder and Executive Producer of LucidNYC, a popular salon series at the forefront of identifying and showcasing emerging innovators and thought leaders across disciplines. Some notable examples are; Jon Batiste, Bandleader for Late Night With Stephen Colbert; Jonah Peretti, Founder of Buzzfeed; and Ayah B’deir, Founder of Littlebits.

Julian has taught and lectured on design strategy and innovation at various schools and organizations such as; The M.I.T. Media Lab, The Young Presidents Organization, Pratt Institute, Parsons School of Design, NYU, NJIT, RPI (Rensseleaer Polytechnic Institute),  and more recently as a Professor in Practice and the New York Program Coordinator for Carnegie Mellon’s, Integrated Innovation Institute where he has been helping lead the strategic development of the program and New York campus for the university.
